Journal ArticleDOI

Distributed fiber Brillouin strain sensing with 1-cm spatial resolution by correlation-based continuous-wave technique

TL;DR: In this article, the spatial resolution of Brillouin strain sensing was improved by the correlation-based continuous-wave technique, which is applicable to smart structures or materials as a nervous system to monitor strain distribution.
Journal ArticleDOI

Application of correlation-based continuous-wave technique for fiber Brillouin sensing to measurement of strain distribution on a small size material

TL;DR: In this paper, a smart material using correlation between pump-and-probe lightwaves for fiber optic distributed strain sensing with Brillouin scattering with centimeter-order spatial resolution, which is 100 times higher than that in conventional pulsed-lightwave techniques.
