Journal ArticleDOI

A histone H2A-derived antimicrobial peptide, Hipposin from mangrove whip ray, Himantura walga: Molecular and functional characterisation

TL;DR: Functional characterisation of active peptide in silico revealed antibacterial, anticancer and antibiofilm activities making Hw-Hip a promising candidate for further exploration.
Journal ArticleDOI

A hepatic antimicrobial peptide, hepcidin from Indian major carp, Catla catla: molecular identification and functional characterization

TL;DR: In this paper , the authors identified and characterized hepcidin gene from the fish, Catla catla (Indian major carp) and termed it as Cc-Hep.
Journal ArticleDOI

Structural, functional and phylogenetic analysis of a beta defensin gene from the Whipfin silverbiddy, Gerres filamentosus (Cuvier, 1829)

TL;DR: Phylogenetic analysis revealed that Gf-Def was close to Oplegnathus fasciatus, Siniperca chautsi, Trachinotus ovatus and Lates calcarifer defensins which probably suggests that G f-Def peptide sequence is quite similar to β-defensin sequences of other Perciformes.
Journal ArticleDOI

Molecular and Functional Characterization of an Anti-lipopolysaccharide Factor Mm-ALF from Speckled Shrimp Metapenaeus monoceros

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors reported an isoform of the anti-lipopolysaccharide factor (Mm-ALF) from the speckled shrimp, Metapenaeus monoceros, and the sequence showed 9916% similarity to ALF from the shrimp Fenneropenaeus indicus.
Journal ArticleDOI

Molecular characterization of a novel β-defensin isoform from the red-toothed trigger fish, Odonus niger (Ruppel, 1836).

TL;DR: In this article, a β-defensin was detected from the gill mRNA of a red-toothed trigger fish, Odonus niger, and a cDNA was synthesized, and the β-Defensin isoform was cloned and subjected to structural and functional characterization in silico.
