Overview of the ITER TBM Program

TL;DR: The main features of the six TBSs that are presently planned for installation and operation in ITER, the main interfaces with other ITER systems and the main aspects of the TBM Program management are described.
Journal ArticleDOI

Tritium breeder blankets design and technologies in Europe: Development status of ITER Test Blanket Modules, test & qualification strategy and roadmap towards DEMO

TL;DR: In this article, the authors developed two reference tritium breeder blankets concepts that will be tested in ITER under the form of Test Blanket Modules: (i) the Helium-Cooled Lithium-Lead which uses the liquid Pb-15.7Li as both breeder and neutron multiplier, (ii) the HELium-cooled Pebble-Bed with lithiated ceramic pebbles as breeder.
Journal ArticleDOI

Development and qualification of functional materials for the EU Test Blanket Modules: Strategy and R&D activities

TL;DR: In this article, the current status of development and qualification of the EU TBMs functional materials is reviewed, including ceramic solid breeder materials, beryllium/beryllides multiplier materials and Lithium-Lead liquid metal breeder material Pb-15.7Li.
Journal ArticleDOI

The European ITER Test Blanket Modules: EUROFER97 material and TBM’s fabrication technologies development and qualification

TL;DR: Activity focused on qualification of EUROFER97 structural material, introduced under a probationary phase in the nuclear components design and construction code RCC-MRx, and identification/analyses of gaps in the respective material database to be filled in.
Journal ArticleDOI

IFMIF specifications from the users point of view

TL;DR: The materials development and validation activities on structural materials, blanket functional materials and non-metallic materials are analyzed and specific objectives and requirements to be implemented in IFMIF are proposed.
