Journal ArticleDOI
Elevated Circulating Free Fatty Acid Levels Impair Endothelium-Dependent Vasodilation
Helmut O. Steinberg,Manal Tarshoby,Robert Monestel,Ginger Hook,Jessica Cronin,Ann Johnson,Basel Bayazeed,Alain D. Baron +7 more
TL;DR: Elevated circulating FFA levels cause endothelial dysfunction, and impaired endothelial function in insulin-resistant humans may be secondary to the elevated FFA concentrations observed in these patients.
Journal ArticleDOI
Interaction between insulin sensitivity and muscle perfusion on glucose uptake in human skeletal muscle: evidence for capillary recruitment.
Alain D. Baron,Manal Tarshoby,Ginger Hook,Emmanuel N. Lazaridis,Jessica Cronin,Ann Johnson,Helmut O. Steinberg +6 more
TL;DR: Muscle perfusion becomes more rate limiting to glucose uptake as insulin sensitivity increases and 2) insulin-mediated increments in muscle perfusion are accompanied by capillary recruitment, indicating that insulin-stimulated glucose uptake displays both permeability- and perfusion-limited glucose exchange properties.
Journal ArticleDOI
Psychological Aspects of Patients with Diabetic Neuropathic Foot
Manal Tarshoby,Mohamed Sherif Abdelgawad Eldesouky,Mohamed Elwasify,Elsherbiny Ibrahim Elsherbiny Ibrahim +3 more
TL;DR: Diabetic neuropathic foot complications has an impact on psychological aspects of patients and the diabetes-related complications important to improve patient’s Health-related quality of life (HRQOL) which is an important outcome measurement from the patient's perspective relating to the impact of the disease.
