Theory of fuzzy integrals and its applications

Local mussels, Perna viridis, were transplanted from a relatively clean site to various polluted sites in Hong Kong. After a 30-day field exposure, different antioxidant parameters including glutathione S transferase (GST), superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), glutathione peroxidase (GPx), glutathione reductase (GR), NADPH DT-diaphorase (DT-d), glutathione (GSH) and lipid peroxidation were quantified, and tissue concentrations of benzo[a]pyrene (B[a]P) as well as a total of five polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) with potential carcinogenicity were determined for individual mussels. Results indicated that: (1) tissue concentrations of B[a]P and total PAHs from the same site were highly variable; (2) gill SOD, DT-d and lipid peroxidation showed no response to tissue pollutants: (3) the majority of the antioxidant parameters were induced by increasing tissue pollutant concentrations; and (4) amongst the various parameters, oxyradical scavenger GSH [ best correlated with tissue concentrations of pollutants.

:This paper presents the optimal design of fractional delay-Infinite Impulse Response filter (IIR) using a meta-heuristic approach called Modified Cuckoo Search Algorithm (MCSA). The Fractional Delay (FD) filters are used to give fraction of delay to signal and the FD-IIR filters are being used in various applications of signal processing. Coefficients of optimized Fractional Delay-Infinite Impulse Filter (FD-IIR) is calculated using Modified Cuckoo Search Algorithm (MCSA) to match the response of fractional delay IIR filter with ideal response of the filter. Different heuristic optimization algorithms such as Cat, Bat, Genetic Algorithm (GA), Simulated Annealing (SA), Cuckoo Search Algorithm (CSA), Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) etc. have been used to design optimal fractional delay-IIR filter. FD-IIR filter design is a multimodal design problem. Hence Meta-heuristic optimization algorithm is used in the paper. The proposed algorithm is a modification of cuckoo search algorithm and hence called Modified Cuckoo Search Algorithm. It is a meta-heuristic optimization technique based on population of birds and cuckoos behavior. It is simple and is a global optimization algorithm. The performance of MCSA is compared with genetic algorithm, particle swarm optimization and cuckoo search algorithm. It is found that MCSA provides better results than GA, PSO and CSA. The fitness function used to evaluate the algorithm is Weighted Least Square function. The simulation results show that proposed algorithm, MCSA has less absolute magnitude error. The statistical data analysis also shows that MCSA has higher value of percentage improvement in magnitude error and has faster convergence rate than GA, PSO and CSA in terms of execution time.

Image authentication and image tamper detection. Double JPEG compression might occur when a portion is cut from an image which may or may not be: Image tamper detection using passive-blind techniques has become a hot research field. It uses non-intrusive methods which uses image functions to detect tampering. The tampering operation changes the inherent statistical properties of an image which is not visible by naked eye and thus can be used as footprint by the tamper detection algorithm. The focus of the current paper is to study the artifacts introduced by JPEG recompression which can act as a footprint in passive JPEG compressed and pasted on another JPEG target image to create a fake image that may have traces of double compression. Detection of double JPEG compression finds an important place in digital image forensics. The present paper provides a review of various existing methods and their drawbacks. The study will be helpful in overcoming the limitations of existing methods and designing new image tamper detection techniques

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES: The present study was carried out with the following aims and OBJECTIVES: To diagnose intrauterine causes of various gynaecological problems, to correlate between hysteroscopic and clinical findings, to treat the pathology hysteroscopically, if possible and to put the patient on treatment depending upon the diagnosis made by hysteroscope. MATERIAL AND METHODS: The present study was carried out on 100 patients between the age group 18-60 years admitted in the Gynaecology ward of Rajindra Hospital, Patiala. The present study was carried out to diagnose the intrauterine causes of various gynaecological problems like menstrual irregularities, infertility and post-menopausal bleeding. OBSERVATIONS: In the present study, majority of the patients (52%) were in the menstrual irregularities group. Normal cavity was found in 53.8% of the patients with menstrual irregularities and 52.7% of cases of infertility. Majority of the patients of post-menopausal bleeding had abnormal cavity (66.7%). Significantly more abnormal findings were diagnosed in the postmenopausal bleeding group (66.7%) as compared with pre- menopausal menstrual irregularities group (46.2%). On correlating clinical and hysteroscopic findings, the present study shows a higher accuracy of positive predictive value of hysteroscopy (93%). 49 out of 100 patients (49%) had positive findings making this investigation a necessary tool in the armamentarium of a modern gynaecologist. CONCLUSION: Hysteroscopy came out to be a better procedure than conventional clinical methods. It added a new dimension in the management of patients with menstrual irregularities, infertility and postmenopausal bleeding, increasing the accuracy of diagnosis and serving as an adjunct in the treatment of intrauterine problems.
