Self-Nucleation of Crystalline Phases Within Homopolymers, Polymer Blends, Copolymers, and Nanocomposites

TL;DR: Self-nucleation (SN) as discussed by the authors is a special nucleation process triggered by self-seeds or selfnuclei that are generated in a given polymeric material by specific thermal protocols or by inducing chain orientation in the molten or partially molten state.
Journal ArticleDOI

Influence of Chain Topology (Cyclic versus Linear) on the Nucleation and Isothermal Crystallization of Poly(l-lactide) and Poly(d-lactide)

TL;DR: In this article, the effects of stereochemistry of the polymer chains and their topology on their structure, nucleation, and crystallization were studied in detail employing wide-angle X-ray scattering (WAXS), small-angle x-ray scatter (SAXS) and standard and advanced differential scanning calorimetry (DSC).
Journal ArticleDOI

Flexible polyurethane foam nanocomposites with modified layered double hydroxides

TL;DR: In this paper, a carbonate intercalated Mg/Al layered double hydroxide (LDH-CO3) was subjected to a calcination-rehydration treatment in order to intercalate two different phosphorus containing anions (HPO4−−2 and bis(2-ethylhexyl) phosphate, HDEHP−) into the hydroxides layers.
Journal ArticleDOI

Factors affecting kinetics and coagulum formation during the emulsion copolymerization of styrene/butyl acrylate

TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of the agitation rate, feeding time, initiation rate and latex viscosity on coagulum formation in the emulsion copolymerization of styrene and butyl acrylate under industrial-like conditions was investigated.
