Current issues in the presentation of asymptomatic primary hyperparathyroidism: proceedings of the Fourth International Workshop.
Shonni J. Silverberg,Bart L. Clarke,Munro Peacock,Francisco Bandeira,Stephanie Boutroy,Natalie E. Cusano,David W. Dempster,E. Michael Lewiecki,Jian-min Liu,Salvatore Minisola,Lars Rejnmark,Barbara C. Silva,Marcella D. Walker,John P. Bilezikian +13 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors summarized data on traditional and nontraditional manifestations of primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT) that have been published since the last International Workshop on PHPT.

TL;DR: This report summarizes data on traditional and nontraditional manifestations of primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT) that have been published since the last International Workshop on PHPT and concludes it is not possible to predict which patients with neuropsychological complaints or cognitive issues will improve after successful parathyroid surgery.
Journal ArticleDOI
Carotid vascular abnormalities in primary hyperparathyroidism.
Marcella D. Walker,Jessica Fleischer,Tanja Rundek,Donald J. McMahon,Shunichi Homma,Ralph L. Sacco,Shonni J. Silverberg +6 more
TL;DR: Measurements of carotid stiffness are associated with extent of PTH elevation, suggesting that those with more severe PHPT may have impaired vascular compliance and that PTH, rather than calcium, is the mediator.
Journal ArticleDOI
Neuropsychological Features in Primary Hyperparathyroidism: A Prospective Study
Marcella D. Walker,Donald J. McMahon,William B. Inabnet,Ronald M. Lazar,Ijeoma Brown,Susan Vardy,Felicia Cosman,Shonni J. Silverberg +7 more
TL;DR: Mild PHPT is associated with cognitive features affecting verbal memory and nonverbal abstraction that improve after parathyroidectomy that were independent of anxiety and depressive symptoms and were not linearly associated with serum levels of calcium or PTH.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cardiac Structure and Diastolic Function in Mild Primary Hyperparathyroidism
Marcella D. Walker,Jessica Fleischer,M. R. Di Tullio,Shunichi Homma,Tanja Rundek,Emily M. Stein,Chiyuan A. Zhang,Tamara Taggart,Donald J. McMahon,Shonni J. Silverberg +9 more
TL;DR: The data support an association between low vitamin D levels and the development of left ventricular hypertrophy in this disorder and suggest that disease severity may determine the presence of cardiac manifestations in PHPT.
