Regional distribution of Al-silicates and metamorphic zonation in the low-grade Verrucano metasediments from the Northern Apennines, Italy

TL;DR: In this article, an analysis of the Triassic Verrucano metasediments of the Northern Apennines has been carried out and the authors have reported that the Si content of muscovite and geological arguments, pressures of between 3 and 5 kbar are estimated, with temperatures ranging from 300°C to about 450°C.
Journal ArticleDOI

Variscan metamorphism in Sardinia, Italy: review and discussion

TL;DR: In this paper, the Sardinian segment of the Variscan chain is divided into four tectonometamorphic zones from NE to SW: 1) Inner zone, with medium-to high-grade metamorphic rocks and migmatites; 2) Internal Nappe zone with low-to medium-grade rocks; 3) External nappe Zone, with lowgrade metmorphic rocks; 4) External zone with very lowto low grade rocks.
Journal ArticleDOI

The East Variscan Shear Zone: new insights into its role in the Late Carboniferous collision in southern Europe

TL;DR: In this paper, a comparison of petro-tectonic features recorded in the Variscan Massifs scattered throughout the Alps, the Corsica-Sardinia-Maures-Tanneron Massif, the Calabria-Peloritani Arc, and the Northern Apennines, has allowed them to propose that they belonged to the same geodynamic realm until Late Carboniferous time.
Journal ArticleDOI

SHRIMP dating of zircons in eclogite from the Variscan basement in north-eastern Sardinia (Italy)

TL;DR: In this article, the SHRIMP analyses of zircons from a single sample of mafic eclogite (Punta de li Tulchi, Sardinia, Italy) are reported.
Journal ArticleDOI

Petrogenesis of Al–silicate-bearing trondhjemitic migmatites from NE Sardinia, Italy

TL;DR: The migmatites from Punta Sirenella (NE Sardinia) are layered rocks containing 3.5-vol.% of centimeter-sized stromatic leucosomes which are mainly trondhjemitic and only rarely granitic in composition as discussed by the authors.
