Journal ArticleDOI
Synthesis and differential antiproliferative activity of Biginelli compounds against cancer cell lines: Monastrol, oxo-monastrol and oxygenated analogues.
Dennis Russowsky,Rômulo Faria Santos Canto,Sérgio Augusto Antunes Sanches,Marcelo Gonçalves Montes D'Oca,Ângelo de Fátima,Ronaldo A. Pilli,Luciana K. Kohn,Márcia Aparecida Antônio,João Carvalho +8 more
TL;DR: For all evaluated cell lines, monastrol was shown to be more active than its oxo-analogue, except for HT-29 cell line, suggesting the importance of the sulfur atom for the antiproliferative activity.
Journal ArticleDOI
Antiulcerogenic activity of a crude hydroalcoholic extract and coumarin isolated from Mikania laevigata Schultz Bip.
Aparecida Erica Bighetti,Márcia Aparecida Antônio,Luciana K. Kohn,Vera Lúcia Garcia Rehder,Mary Ann Foglio,Ana Possenti,L. Vilela,João Carvalho +7 more
TL;DR: Results suggest that both CHE and coumarin may influence the secretion control mediated by the parasympathetic system.
Journal ArticleDOI
(R)-Goniothalamin: total syntheses and cytotoxic activity against cancer cell lines.
TL;DR: The total syntheses of (R)-goniothalamin, a styryl lactone isolated from several Goniothalamus species, via catalytic asymmetric allylation of alpha-benzyloxyacetaldehyde followed by ring-closing metathesis and Wittig olefination are reported.
Journal ArticleDOI
Antiulcerative properties of bovine α-lactalbumin
L.F.H. Mezzaroba,João Carvalho,Alexandre Nunes Ponezi,Márcia Aparecida Antônio,Karin Maia Monteiro,Ana Possenti,Valdemiro Carlos Sgarbieri +6 more
TL;DR: Blocking free sulfhydryl groups by in vivo N-ethylmaleimide alkylation caused an increase in mucosal ulcerative lesions, suggesting the importance of sulfHydryl compounds in the gastric mucosa protection.
Journal ArticleDOI
Antiulcerogenic activity of some sesquiterpene lactones isolated from Artemisia annua.
Mary Ann Foglio,Patrı́cia Corrêa Dias,Márcia Aparecida Antônio,Ana Possenti,Rodney Alexandre Ferreira Rodrigues,Erica Ferreira da Silva,Vera Lúcia Garcia Rehder,João Carvalho +7 more
TL;DR: Three compounds isolated from the sequiterpene lactone-enriched fraction obtained from the crude ethanolic extract of Artemisia annua L did not demonstrate antiulcerogenic activity when tested on the ethanol-induced ulcer model, suggesting that the antiulkerogenic activity is a consequence of prostaglandin synthesis increase.
