Journal ArticleDOI
Phenolic profile, antioxidant activity and palynological analysis of stingless bee honey from Amazonas, Northern Brazil.
Isnandia Andréa Almeida da Silva,Tania M. S. Silva,Celso A. Camara,Neide Queiroz,Marciane Magnani,Jaílson Santos de Novais,Luiz E. B. Soledade,Edeltrudes de Oliveira Lima,A. L. Souza,Antonio G. Souza +9 more
TL;DR: The flavonoid taxifolin, which has not previously been described in honeys from stingless bees, is identified, and the identification of catechol in Brazilian honey samples for the first time is reported.
Journal ArticleDOI
Chemical, morphological and functional properties of Brazilian jackfruit (Artocarpus heterophyllus L.) seeds starch.
Marta Suely Madruga,Fabiola Samara Medeiros de Albuquerque,Izis Rafaela Alves Silva,Deborah Silva do Amaral,Marciane Magnani,Vicente Queiroga Neto +5 more
TL;DR: The swelling power and solubility of jackfruit starch increased with increasing temperature, showing opaque pastes, and results suggest that the Brazilian jackfruit seeds starches could be used in food products.
Journal ArticleDOI
Sugar profile, physicochemical and sensory aspects of monofloral honeys produced by different stingless bee species in Brazilian semi-arid region
Janaína Maria Batista de Sousa,Evandro Leite de Souza,Gilmardes Marques,Marta de Toledo Benassi,Beatriz Gullón,Maria Manuela Pintado,Marciane Magnani +6 more
TL;DR: In this article, the physicochemical properties of monofloral honeys produced by the stingless bee M.subnida Duke and Melipona scutellaris Latrelle in a Brazilian semi-arid region were analyzed regarding their physicochemical (moisture, protein, proline, hydroxymethyl-furfural, color, electrical conductivity, pH, free acidity, and sugar profile).
Journal ArticleDOI
Polyphenolic profile and antioxidant and antibacterial activities of monofloral honeys produced by Meliponini in the Brazilian semiarid region
Janaína Maria Batista de Sousa,Evandro Leite de Souza,Gilmardes Marques,Bruno Raniere Lins de Albuquerque Meireles,Ângela Maria Tribuzy de Magalhães Cordeiro,Beatriz Gullón,Maria Manuela Pintado,Marciane Magnani +7 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors assessed the polyphenolic profile and the antioxidant and antibacterial activities of monofloral honeys produced by Meliponini in the Brazilian semi-arid region.
Journal ArticleDOI
Identification of Lactic Acid Bacteria in Fruit Pulp Processing Byproducts and Potential Probiotic Properties of Selected Lactobacillus Strains.
Estefânia Fernandes Garcia,Winnie Alencar Luciano,Danilo Elias Xavier,Whyara C. A. da Costa,Kleber de Sousa Oliveira,Octavio L. Franco,Marcos Antonio de Morais Junior,Brigida Thais Luckwu de Lucena,Renata Cristina Picão,Marciane Magnani,Maria Saarela,Evandro Leite de Souza +11 more
TL;DR: High efficiency and congruency for LAB species identification is revealed, and the selected Lactobacillus strains may be candidates for further investigation of novel probiotic strains.
