Journal ArticleDOI

Hyperoxia induces DNA damage in mammalian cells

TL;DR: The results show that there is an association between hyperoxia and DNA damage.
Journal ArticleDOI

Chemical nature of DNA-protein cross-links produced in mammalian chromatin by hydrogen peroxide in the presence of iron or copper ions.

TL;DR: Analysis of chromatin samples by gas chromatography/mass spectrometry after hydrolysis and derivatization showed the presence of 3-[(1,3-dihydro-2,4-dioxopyrimidin-5-yl)methyl]-L-tyroseine (thymine-tyrosine cross-link) on the basis of the gas chromatographic and mass spectrometric characteristics of the trimethylsilylated authentic compound.
Journal ArticleDOI

Formation of DNA-protein cross-links in cultured mammalian cells upon treatment with iron ions.

TL;DR: The nature of the Fe(II)-mediated DPCs suggests the involvement of the hydroxyl radical in their formation and the Thy-Tyr crosslink may contribute to pathological processes associated with free radical reactions.
