2005 Special Issue: The context-tree kernel for strings

TL;DR: A new kernel for strings is proposed which borrows ideas and techniques from information theory and data compression and performs well with respect to other state-of-the-art methods while using no biological prior knowledge.

Generalizing Point Embeddings using the Wasserstein Space of Elliptical Distributions

TL;DR: Wasserstein elliptical embeddings are presented, which consist in embedding objects as elliptical probability distributions, namely distributions whose densities have elliptical level sets, and shown to be more intuitive and better behaved numerically than the alternative choice of Gaussianembeddings with the Kullback-Leibler divergence.

Autoregressive Kernels For Time Series

TL;DR: A new family of kernels for variable-length time series is proposed that can be generalized to time series taking values in arbitrary state spaces, as long as the state space itself is endowed with a kernel \kappa.

Missing Data Imputation using Optimal Transport

TL;DR: This work uses optimal transport distances to quantify that criterion and turn it into a loss function to impute missing data values, and proposes practical methods to minimize these losses using end-to-end learning.
