Influence of age and physical exercise on Sirtuin activity in humans.
Lidia Villanova,Enza Vernucci,Bruna Pucci,Laura Pellegrini,Marcella Nebbioso,Clara Mauri,Gabriella Marfe,A. Spataro,Massimo Fini,Giuseppe Banfi,Matteo Antonio Russo,Marco Tafani +11 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that sirtuins activity is a function of age and can be altered through physical exercise and physical exercise in professional athletes can upregulate sirtuin activity.
Journal ArticleDOI
Detailing the role of bax translocation, cytochrome C release, and perinuclear clustering of the mitochondria in the killing of hela cells by TNF
Bruna Pucci,Francesca Romana Bertani,Natalie O. Karpinich,Manuela Indelicato,Matteo Antonio Russo,John L. Farber,Marco Tafani +6 more
TL;DR: The data demonstrate that apoptosis in HeLa cells is ATP dependent and requires the translocation of Bax.
Journal ArticleDOI
Re-evaluation of the distinction between type I and type II cells: the necessary role of the mitochondria in both the extrinsic and intrinsic signaling pathways upon Fas receptor activation.
TL;DR: It is concluded that in type I cells the extrinsic signaling pathway is mitochondrial dependent to the same extent as is the intrinsic pathway in type II cells.
Journal ArticleDOI
2,3,7,8-Tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin modifies expression and nuclear/cytosolic localization of bovine herpesvirus 1 immediate-early protein (bICP0) during infection.
Filomena Fiorito,Gabriella Marfe,Giovanna Elvira Granato,Roberto Ciarcia,Emma De Blasio,Marco Tafani,Salvatore Florio,Luisa De Martino,Gianmarco Muzi,Ugo Pagnini,Antonio Giordano +10 more
TL;DR: Both the increase of replication of BhV‐1 and anticipation of BHV‐ 1‐induced apoptosis could be the result of a relationship between TCDD and bICP0, as revealed by RT‐PCR analysis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Pyrazole-based inhibitors of enhancer of zeste homologue 2 induce apoptosis and autophagy in cancer cells
Paolo Mellini,Biagina Marrocco,Diana Borovika,Lucia Polletta,Ilaria Carnevale,Serena Saladini,Giulia Stazi,Clemens Zwergel,Peteris Trapencieris,Elisabetta Ferretti,Marco Tafani,Sergio Valente,Antonello Mai +12 more
TL;DR: 1o showed low micromolar EZH2/PRC2 inhibition and high selectivity towards a panel of other methyltransferases and displayed cell growth arrest in breast MDA-MB231, leukaemia K562, and neuroblastoma SK-N-BE cancer cells joined to reduction of H3K27me3 levels and induction of apoptosis and autophagy.
