Psychiatric Disorders and Drug Use Among Human Immunodeficiency Virus–Infected Adults in the United States
Eric G. Bing,M. Audrey Burnam,Douglas Longshore,Douglas Longshore,John A. Fleishman,Cathy D. Sherbourne,Andrew S. London,Barbara J. Turner,Ferd Eggan,Robin L. Beckman,Benedetto Vitiello,Sally C. Morton,Maria Orlando,Samuel A. Bozzette,Samuel A. Bozzette,Lucila Ortiz-Barron,Martin F. Shapiro,Martin F. Shapiro +17 more
TL;DR: Clinicians may need to actively identify those at risk of psychiatric and/or drug dependence disorders and work with policymakers to ensure the availability of appropriate care for these treatable disorders.
Journal ArticleDOI
Likelihood-Based Item-Fit Indices for Dichotomous Item Response Theory Models.
Maria Orlando,David Thissen +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, Pearson's X2 and likelihood ratio G2 (S-G2) were used for dichotomous item response theory (IRT) models to compare the modeled and observed frequencies for correct and incorrect responses for each number-correct score.
Journal ArticleDOI
The prevalence of alcohol consumption and heavy drinking among people with HIV in the United States: results from the HIV Cost and Services Utilization Study.
Frank H. Galvan,Eric G. Bing,John A. Fleishman,Andrew S. London,Raul Caetano,M. Audrey Burnam,Doug Longshore,Sally Morton,Maria Orlando,Martin F. Shapiro +9 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors used data from the HIV Cost and Services Utilization Study (HCSUS), a national probability survey of HIV-infected adults receiving medical care in the U.S. in early 1996 (N = 2,864: 2,017 men, 847 women), to estimate the prevalence of any alcohol consumption and heavy drinking.
Journal ArticleDOI
Further investigation of the performance of S - X2: An item fit index for use with dichotomous item response theory models
Maria Orlando,David Thissen +1 more
TL;DR: Results from this study imply that S - X 2 may be a useful tool in detecting the misfit of one item contained in an otherwise well-fitted test, lending additional support to the utility of the index for use with dichotomous item response theory models.
Journal ArticleDOI
Substance use Trajectories from Early Adolescence to Emerging Adulthood: A Comparison of Smoking, Binge Drinking, and Marijuana use:
TL;DR: In this article, the authors synthesize their prior findings on patterns of smoking, binge drinking, and marijuana use from early adolescence (age 13) to emerging adulthood (age 23) and present new data on how these trajectory classes compare on key psychosocial and behavioral outcomes during emerging adulthood.
