Solid-State NMR for Studying the Structure and Dynamics of Viral Assemblies
TL;DR: The way from first solid-state NMR investigations to the state-of-the-art approaches currently developing is traced, including applications focused on HIV, HBV, HCV and influenza, and an outlook to the possibilities opening in the coming years.
Journal ArticleDOI
Biomolecular solid-state NMR spectroscopy at 1200 MHz: the gain in resolution
Morgane Callon,Alexander A. Malär,Sara Pfister,Václav Římal,Marco E. Weber,Thomas Wiegand,Johannes Zehnder,Matías Chávez,Riccardo Cadalbert,Rajdeep Deb,Alexander Däpp,Marie-Laure Fogeron,Andreas Hunkeler,Lauriane Lecoq,Anahit Torosyan,Dawid Zyla,Rudolf Glockshuber,Stefanie Jonas,Michael Nassal,Matthias Ernst,Anja Böckmann,Beat H. Meier +21 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a collection of high-field NMR spectra of a variety of proteins, including molecular machines, membrane proteins, viral capsids, fibrils and large molecular assemblies, are presented.
Journal ArticleDOI
Structural Studies of Self-Assembled Subviral Particles: Combining Cell-Free Expression with 110 kHz MAS NMR Spectroscopy.
Guillaume David,Marie-Laure Fogeron,Maarten Schledorn,Roland Montserret,Uta Haselmann,Uta Haselmann,Susanne Penzel,Aurélie Badillo,Lauriane Lecoq,Patrice Andre,Patrice Andre,Patrice Andre,Michael Nassal,Ralf Bartenschlager,Ralf Bartenschlager,Beat H. Meier,Anja Böckmann +16 more
TL;DR: It is shown that milligram amounts of the small envelope protein of the duck hepatitis B virus can be produced by cell-free expression, and that the protein self-assembles into subviral particles.
Journal ArticleDOI
Overall Structural Model of NS5A Protein from Hepatitis C Virus and Modulation by Mutations Confering Resistance of Virus Replication to Cyclosporin A.
Aurélie Badillo,Véronique Receveur-Bréchot,Stéphane Sarrazin,François-Xavier Cantrelle,Frédéric Delolme,Marie-Laure Fogeron,Jennifer Molle,Roland Montserret,Anja Böckmann,Ralf Bartenschlager,Volker Lohmann,Guy Lippens,Sylvie Ricard-Blum,Xavier Hanoulle,François Penin +14 more
TL;DR: A model of the overall structure of NS5A is built, which provides a useful template for further investigations of the structural and functional features of this enigmatic protein.
Journal ArticleDOI
Wheat germ cell-free expression: Two detergents with a low critical micelle concentration allow for production of soluble HCV membrane proteins.
Marie-Laure Fogeron,Aurélie Badillo,Vlastimil Jirasko,Jérôme Gouttenoire,David L. Paul,Loick Lancien,Darius Moradpour,Ralf Bartenschlager,Beat H. Meier,François Penin,Anja Böckmann +10 more
TL;DR: It is shown that lauryl maltose neopentyl glycol (MNG-3) and dodecyl octaethylene glycol ether (C12E8) detergents can yield essentially soluble membrane proteins at detergent concentrations that do not inhibit the cell-free reaction.
