Journal ArticleDOI
Trends in incidence of thick, thin and in situ melanoma in Europe.
Lidia Sacchetto,Roberto Zanetti,Harry Comber,Christine Bouchardy,David H. Brewster,P. Broganelli,M-D Chirlaque,D. Coza,Jaume Galceran,Anna Gavin,Monika Hackl,Alexander Katalinic,Siri Larønningen,Marieke W. Louwman,Eileen Morgan,Trude Eid Robsahm,M-J Sanchez,Laufey Tryggvadottir,R. Tumino,E. Van Eycken,Sally Vernon,Vesna Zadnik,Stefano Rosso +22 more
TL;DR: Trends in incidence for in situ and invasive melanoma in some European countries during the period 1995-2012 were analysed, stratifying for lesion thickness, with a statistically significant increase in invasive lesions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Impact of transition from analog screening mammography to digital screening mammography on screening outcome in The Netherlands: a population-based study
Joost Nederend,Lucien E. M. Duijm,Marieke W. Louwman,Johanna H. Groenewoud,A. B. Donkers-van Rossum,Adri C. Voogd +5 more
TL;DR: FFDM significantly increased the referral rate and cancer detection rate, at the expense of a lower positive predictive value of referral and biopsy, while increased over-diagnosis cannot be excluded.
Journal ArticleDOI
Inter-observer variability in mammography screening and effect of type and number of readers on screening outcome
Lucien E. M. Duijm,Marieke W. Louwman,Johanna H. Groenewoud,L.V. van de Poll-Franse,Jacques Fracheboud,J.W.W. Coebergh +5 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that screener performance significantly varied at single-reading, and when there is a shortage of screening radiologists, triple reading by one radiologist and two radiographers may replace radiologist double-reading.
Journal ArticleDOI
Characteristics and prognosis of interval cancers after biennial screen-film or full-field digital screening mammography
Roy J. P. Weber,Rob M. G. van Bommel,Marieke W. Louwman,Joost Nederend,Adri C. Voogd,Frits H. Jansen,Vivianne C. G. Tjan-Heijnen,Lucien E. M. Duijm +7 more
TL;DR: The characteristics and prognosis of interval breast cancers at screen-film (SFM) and full-field digital (FFDM) screening mammography determined, and interval cancer subgroups showed comparable overall survival.
Journal ArticleDOI
Geographical relationships between sociodemographic factors and incidence of cervical cancer in the Netherlands 1989–2003
Maaike A. van der Aa,Sabine Siesling,Marieke W. Louwman,Otto Visser,Eero Pukkala,Jan Willem Coebergh +5 more
TL;DR: The finding that lower SES is associated with more advanced cancer and consequently worse survival, emphasizes the importance of future cervical cancer prevention programmes targeted at women of lower S ES who do not participate in opportunistic screening.
