Journal ArticleDOI
TINITALY/01: a new Triangular Irregular Network of Italy
Simone Tarquini,Ilaria Isola,Massimiliano Favalli,Francesco Mazzarini,Marina Bisson,M. T. Pareschi,Enzo Boschi +6 more
TL;DR: In this article, a new Digital Elevation Model (DEM) of the natural landforms of Italy is presented and a methodology is discussed to build a DEM over wide areas where elevation data from nonhomogeneous (in density and accuracy) input sources are available.
Journal ArticleDOI
Petrology of volcanic products younger than 42 ka on the Lipari–Vulcano complex (Aeolian Islands, Italy): an example of volcanism controlled by tectonics
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors studied the last 42 ka volcanic activity at Lipari Island (Aeolian Arc, Italy) produced lava domes, flows and pyroclastic deposits with rhyolitic composition, showing evidence of magma mixing such as latitic enclaves and banding.
Journal ArticleDOI
Quantifying volcanic hazard at Campi Flegrei caldera (Italy) with uncertainty assessment: 1. Vent opening maps
Andrea Bevilacqua,Roberto Isaia,Augusto Neri,Stefano Vitale,Willy Aspinall,Marina Bisson,Franco Flandoli,Peter J. Baxter,Antonella Bertagnini,Tomaso Esposti Ongaro,E. Iannuzzi,Marco Pistolesi,Marco Pistolesi,Mauro Rosi +13 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors present a probabilistic analysis using a variety of volcanological data sets to map the background spatial probability of vent opening conditional on the occurrence of an event in the foreseeable future.
Journal ArticleDOI
The changing face of Mount Etna’s summit area documented with Lidar technology
Marco Neri,Francesco Mazzarini,Simone Tarquini,Marina Bisson,Ilaria Isola,Boris Behncke,M. T. Pareschi +6 more
TL;DR: Neri et al. as mentioned in this paper compared the levels of accuracy and resolution of different LIDAR techniques applied to the changing face of Mount Etna's summit area with Lidar technology.
Journal ArticleDOI
Quantifying volcanic hazard at Campi Flegrei caldera (Italy) with uncertainty assessment: 2. Pyroclastic density current invasion maps
Augusto Neri,Andrea Bevilacqua,Tomaso Esposti Ongaro,Roberto Isaia,Willy Aspinall,Marina Bisson,Franco Flandoli,Peter J. Baxter,Antonella Bertagnini,E. Iannuzzi,S. Orsucci,S. Orsucci,Marco Pistolesi,Marco Pistolesi,Mauro Rosi,Stefano Vitale +15 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a probabilistic assessment of potential vent opening positions, derived in the companion paper, combined with inferences about the spatial density distribution of PDC invasion areas from a simplified flow model, informed by reconstruction of deposits from eruptions in the last 15'ka.
