Collaboration between the Fab and Fc Contribute to Maximal Protection Against SARS-CoV-2 Following NVX-CoV2373 Subunit Vaccine with Matrix-M™ Vaccination
Matthew J. Gorman,Nita Patel,Mimi Guebre-Xabier,Alex Lee Zhu,Caroline Atyeo,Krista M. Pullen,Carolin Loos,Yenny Goez-Gazi,Ricardo Carrion,Jing-Hui Tian,Dansu Yaun,Kathryn Bowman,Bin Zhou,Sonia Maciejewski,Marisa McGrath,James Logue,Matthew B. Frieman,David C. Montefiori,Colin Mann,Sharon L. Schendel,Fatima Amanat,Florian Krammer,Erica Ollmann Saphire,Douglas A. Lauffenburger,Ann M. Greene,Alyse D. Portnoff,Michael J. Massare,Larry Ellingsworth,Gregory M. Glenn,Gale Smith,Galit Alter +30 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors analyzed the humoral immune response in a cohort of non-human primates immunized with a recombinant SARS-CoV-2 spike (S) glycoprotein (NVX-coV2373) at two dose levels, administered as a one or two-dose regimen with a saponin-based adjuvant Matrix-M™.
Posted ContentDOI
Reduced SARS-CoV-2 mRNA vaccine immunogenicity and protection in mice with diet-induced obesity and insulin resistance
Timothy O'Meara,Etsuro Nanishi,Marisa McGrath,Soumik Barman,Danica Dong,Carly A. Dillen,Manisha Menon,Hyuk-Soo Seo,Sirano Dhe-Paganon,Robert K. Ernst,Ofer Levy,Matthew B. Frieman,David J. Dowling +12 more
TL;DR: In this article , the effects of metabolic diseases on vaccine immunogenicity and protection were investigated in a high-fat diet (HFD) and a normal diet (ND) model.
Posted ContentDOI
The mRNA vaccine BNT162b2 demonstrates impaired TH1 immunogenicity in human elders in vitro and aged mice in vivo
Byron Norman Frazer Brook,Benoit Fatou,Abhinav Checkervarty,Soumik Barman,Cali Sweitzer,Anna-Nicole Bosco,Amy C. Sherman,Lindsey R. Baden,Elena Morrocchi,Guzman Sanchez-Schmitz,Paolo Palma,Etsuro Nanishi,Timothy O'Meara,Marisa McGrath,Matthew B. Frieman,Dheeraj Soni,Simon D. van Haren,Al Ozonoff,Joann Diray-Arce,Hanno Steen,David J. Dowling,Ofer Levy +21 more
TL;DR: In this article , the authors evaluated the BNT162b2 in human in vitro whole blood assays with supernatants from adult (18-50 years) and elder (≥60 years) participants measured by mass spectrometry and proximity extension assay proteomics.
Journal ArticleDOI
SARS-CoV-2 ORF6 protein does not antagonize interferon signaling in respiratory epithelial Calu-3 cells during infection
Minghua Li,Kasirajan Ayyanathan,Mark Dittmar,Jesse Miller,Iulia Tapescu,Jae Seung Lee,Marisa McGrath,Yang Xue,Sanjay Vashee,David C. Schultz,Matthew B. Frieman,Sara Cherry +11 more
TL;DR: In this article , the role of ORF6 in IFN responses during SARS-CoV-2 infection of respiratory cells was investigated, and it was shown that ORF 6 is not sufficient to counteract IFN induction or IFN signaling during viral infection.

Diet Induced Obesity and Diabetes Enhance Mortality and Reduces Vaccine Efficacy for SARS-CoV-2
Robert M. Johnson,Jeremy G Ardanuy,Holly Hammond,James Logue,Lian Jackson,Lauren Baracco,Marisa McGrath,Carly A. Dillen,Nita K. Patel,Gale E. Smith,Matthew B. Frieman +10 more
TL;DR: It is found that obese/diabetic mice infected with SARS-CoV-2 have increased morbidity and mortality compared to age matched normal mice, and this model recapitulates the increased disease severity associated with obesity and diabetes in humans with COVID-19.
