Journal ArticleDOI
Swollenin, a Trichoderma reesei protein with sequence similarity to the plant expansins, exhibits disruption activity on cellulosic materials
Markku Saloheimo,Marja Paloheimo,Satu Hakola,Jaakko Pere,Swanson Barbara A,Eini Nyyssönen,Amit Bhatia,Michael Ward,Merja Penttilä +8 more
TL;DR: A novel gene with sequence similarity to plant expansins, isolated from the cellulolytic fungus Trichoderma reesei, is described, which has an N-terminal fungal type cellulose binding domain connected by a linker region to the expansin-like domain.
Journal ArticleDOI
Genetic modification of carbon catabolite repression in Trichoderma reesei for improved protein production.
Tiina Nakari-Setälä,Marja Paloheimo,Jarno Kallio,Jari Vehmaanperä,Merja Penttilä,Markku Saloheimo +5 more
TL;DR: The results of this work indicate that cre1 is a valid target gene in strain engineering for improved enzyme production in T. reesei and that the cre1-1 gene is practically a null allele.

Cellulases, the genes encoding them and uses thereof
Arja Miettinen-Oinonen,John Londesborough,Jari Vehmaanperä,Heli Haakana,Arja Mäntylä,Raija Lantto,Minna Johanna Elovainio,Vesa Joutsjoki,Marja Paloheimo,Pirkko Suominen +9 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a gene encoding a protein that facilitates the action of novel cellulases and enzyme preparations containing such proteins are described, which are especially useful in the textile and detergent industry and in pulp and paper industry.
Journal ArticleDOI
The cloning and sequencing of the genes encoding phytase (phy) and pH 2.5-optimum acid phosphatase (aph) from Aspergillus niger var. awamori
Cristopher Piddington,Christine S. Houston,Marja Paloheimo,Michael A. Cantrell,Arja Miettinen-Oinonen,Helena Nevalainen,John A. Rambosek +6 more
TL;DR: Recombinant A. niger var.
Journal ArticleDOI
High-Yield Production of a Bacterial Xylanase in the Filamentous Fungus Trichoderma reesei Requires a Carrier Polypeptide with an Intact Domain Structure
TL;DR: It was shown that production of this xylanase was clearly increased when it was produced as a fusion protein with a carrier polypeptide having an intact domain structure compared to the production of fusions to the signal sequence alone or to carriers having incomplete domain structures.
