Risk factors associated with postoperative cerebrospinal fluid leak after endoscopic endonasal skull base surgery
Shannon Fraser,Paul A. Gardner,M. Koutourousiou,Mark Kubik,Juan C. Fernandez-Miranda,Carl H. Snyderman,Eric W. Wang +6 more
TL;DR: Preoperative BMI > 25 kg/m2 and tumor location in the posterior fossa were associated with higher rates of postoperative CSF leak and use of a pedicled vascularized flap may be associated with reduced risk of a CSF leaks, particularly in overweight patients.
Journal ArticleDOI
Transition to a virtual multidisciplinary tumor board during the COVID-19 pandemic: University of Pittsburgh experience.
Harish Dharmarajan,Jennifer L. Anderson,Seungwon Kim,Shaum Sridharan,Umamaheswar Duvvuri,Robert L. Ferris,Mario G. Solari,David A. Clump,Heath D. Skinner,James Ohr,Dan P. Zandberg,Barton F. Branstetter,Marion A. Hughes,Katie S. Traylor,Raja R. Seethala,Simion I. Chiosea,Marci Lee Nilsen,Jonas T. Johnson,Mark Kubik +18 more
TL;DR: This work has shown that when approached systematically, a virtual MDC is feasible to design and implement in a large academic medical center with multiple satellite hospitals.
Journal ArticleDOI
Transoral robotic surgery for management of cervical unknown primary squamous cell carcinoma: Updates on efficacy, surgical technique and margin status ☆
Mathew Geltzeiler,Sean Doerfler,Meghan Turner,William Greer Albergotti,Mark Kubik,Seungwon Kim,Robert L. Ferris,Umamaheswar Duvvuri +7 more
TL;DR: Operative laryngoscopy with TORS is efficacious, localizing the primary in 80% of patients, and can help standardize surgical technique, further increasing the diagnostic yield and decreasing the negative margin rate of TORS for CUP.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of transcervical arterial ligation on the severity of postoperative hemorrhage after transoral robotic surgery.
Mark Kubik,Rajarsi Mandal,William Greer Albergotti,Umamaheswar Duvvuri,Robert L. Ferris,Seungwon Kim +5 more
TL;DR: The value of transcervical arterial ligation during transoral robotic surgery (TORS) as a measure to decrease postoperative bleeding incidence or severity is unclear.
Journal ArticleDOI
The mutational landscape of recurrent versus nonrecurrent human papillomavirus–related oropharyngeal cancer
R. Alex Harbison,R. Alex Harbison,Mark Kubik,Eric Q. Konnick,Qing Zhang,Seok-Geun Lee,Seok-Geun Lee,Heuijoon Park,Jianan Zhang,Christopher S. Carlson,Chu Chen,Chu Chen,Stephen M. Schwartz,Stephen M. Schwartz,Cristina P. Rodriguez,Cristina P. Rodriguez,Umamaheswar Duvvuri,Eduardo Mendez,Eduardo Mendez +18 more
TL;DR: Overall, primary HPV-related OPSCCs that recur share a genomic landscape with nonrecurrentOPSCCs and metachronous recurrent OPSCCS share genomic features with HPV-negative HNCs.
