Journal ArticleDOI

Quantum transport and surface scattering.

TL;DR: It is found that the full quantum-mechanical treatment of very pure systems leads to results qualitatively different from those of currently used quasiclassical theory.
Journal ArticleDOI

Journal ArticleDOI

Diffuse scattering from quasicrystals.

TL;DR: The effects of strain fluctuations due to phasons which have dropped out of equilibrium at high temperatures, providing a source of quenched, spatially varying disorder are explored, leading to anisotropic peak shapes in analogy with Huang scattering in ordinary crystals.
Journal ArticleDOI

Long-range icosahedral orientational order and quasicrystals.

TL;DR: It is shown that a quartic orientational free energy leads to long-range icosahedron bond-orientational order which, through a coupling with a translational order parameter, stabilizes the icosahedral quasicrystalline phase.
