As politicas de educacao por meio das Diretrizes Curriculares Nacionais visam direcionar as instituicoes de ensino superior para a formacao das seguintes competencias e habilidades gerais dos profissionais de saude: atencao a saude, tomada de decisoes, comunicacao, lideranca, administracao e gerenciamento, educacao permanente. Como a maioria das competencias apontadas podem ser caracterizadas como competencias gerenciais, o presente artigo busca descreve-las e relacionar os conhecimentos necessarios para a formacao dessas competencias. Essa classificacao trouxe algumas reflexoes conceituais que permitem analisar o trabalho do enfermeiro e as relacoes entre gerencia e assistencia.

What matters to women: a systematic scoping review to identify the processes and outcomes of antenatal care provision that are important to healthy pregnant women.

Estudo qualitativo descritivo realizado para subsidiar a implantacao da sistematizacao da assistencia de Enfermagem em um hospital universitario. Utilizou-se questionarios abordando atividades, percepcao sobre Enfermagem e cliente, conhecimento e aplicacao do processo de Enfermagem e problemas decorrentes da assistencia nao sistematizada. Os resultados identificaram que as atividades dos enfermeiros baseiam-se no tecnicismo e na administracao do servico; que a enfermagem foi relacionada com atendimento as necessidades humanas basicas e holismo, sendo o cliente definido como o individuo que necessita de cuidados; que a maioria conhecia na teoria o processo de Enfermagem, mas nao o aplicou na pratica. Os problemas mais citados decorrentes da nao sistematizacao da assistencia foram: comprometimento da qualidade da assistencia, desorganizacao do servico e conflito de papeis.

Prática assistencial de enfermagem: problemas, perspectivas e necessidade de sistematização.

Objective To identify the scientific publications about adverse events in nursing care in adult hospitalized patients and discuss the main adverse events in nursing care. Method Integrative revision with a qualitative approach. The data were collected at LILACS, MEDLINE, BDENF and the library SCIELO and were submitted to thematic analysis. Results Three categories were developed: Adverse events in nursing care; The main causes of the adverse events in nursing care; Attitude of nursing professionals in face of errors. The main events were identified in nursing care with emphasis on the medication error, the failure to perform dressings and falls of patients. The importance of instruments was emphasized for notification of adverse events in the institutions. However the fear of punishment on professionals stimulates the underreporting of events. Conclusion It is important to discuss effective prevention strategies that ensure patient safety in healthcare institutions.

Adverse events and safety in nursing care.

This is an article about the theoretical model for assessing quality in health services proposed by Parasuraman, Zheitaml and Berry, in order to measure the degree of satisfaction of users. This model is based on the analysis of expectations and perceptions of users of health services, by means of five dimensions: tangibility, reliability, responsiveness, assurance and empathy. From the difference between what is expected by the user and the service offered, gaps or shortcomings are derived that may be the main obstacle for users to perceive the provision of such services with quality. It was observed that the use of the psychometric scale called Service Quality (SERVQUAL) in some studies about satisfaction, obtained very favorable results in the institutions in which it was employed. The analysis revealed the need to improve the existing models of evaluation, as well as the importance of measuring user satisfaction in health institutions.

Absenteeism in nursing is a difficult problem for health organizations; hence it is an indicator that must be monitored. The objective of this study was to analyze the absenteeism rate of nursing professionals in a public hospital. Absenteeism data were collected monthly, from January to July 2008, and calculated by means of an electronic program. The mean absenteeism index for nurses varied from 5.6% to 9.7% for technicians/nursing aides. Sick leaves were the most prevalent reason for absences. The data revealed the major cause of absenteeism and pointed at the need to change policies for hiring nursing professionals, in addition to reviewing the working processes in order to improve the workers' health conditions.
