Journal ArticleDOI

Plasma electrolytic oxidation coatings with particle additions – A review

TL;DR: A review of particle-containing PEO coatings formed on Mg, Al and Ti alloy substrates can be found in this article, where the main focus is given to the uptake mechanism of particle into PEO layers and the introduced microstructural and functional changes.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of Nd on the corrosion behaviour of AM50 and AZ91D magnesium alloys in 3.5wt.% NaCl solution

TL;DR: In this paper, the corrosion performance of AM50 and AZ91D alloys containing up to 1.5% Nd was investigated by electrochemical and gravimetric measurements in 3.5
Journal ArticleDOI

Pitting corrosion of rheocast A356 aluminium alloy in 3.5wt.% NaCl solution

TL;DR: In this article, the microstructure and corrosion behavior of rheocast and gravity-cast A356 aluminium alloys were examined and compared, and it was shown that large potential differences between iron-containing intermetallics and the α-Al matrix were responsible for the initiation of the attack at the intermetalics/α-Al interfaces.
Journal ArticleDOI

Influence of chloride ion concentration and temperature on the corrosion of Mg–Al alloys in salt fog

TL;DR: The influence of temperature and chloride concentration on the corrosion behavior of Mg-Al alloys exposed to salt fog was evaluated in this article, showing that corrosion attack increased with decreasing aluminium content in the alloy and increasing Cl − concentration and temperature.
Journal ArticleDOI

Corrosion behaviour of AZ91D and AM50 magnesium alloys with Nd and Gd additions in humid environments

TL;DR: In this article, rare earths (RE) were added to AM50 and AZ91D alloys to improve the corrosion resistance of the AM50 alloy by up to 43%.
