Journal ArticleDOI
Effects of Angiotensin II Infusion on the Expression and Function of NAD(P)H Oxidase and Components of Nitric Oxide/cGMP Signaling
Hanke Mollnau,Maria Wendt,Katalin Szöcs,Bernard Lassègue,Eberhard Schulz,Mathias Oelze,Huige Li,Martin Bodenschatz,Michael August,Andrei L. Kleschyov,Nikolaus Tsilimingas,Ulrich Walter,Ulrich Förstermann,Thomas Meinertz,Kathy K. Griendling,Thomas Münzel +15 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that angiotensin II-induced increases in the activity and the expression of NAD(P)H oxidase are at least in part PKC-dependent and may trigger NOS III uncoupling, leading to impaired NO/cGMP signaling and to endothelial dysfunction in this animal model.
Journal ArticleDOI
Vasodilator-Stimulated Phosphoprotein Serine 239 Phosphorylation as a Sensitive Monitor of Defective Nitric Oxide/cGMP Signaling and Endothelial Dysfunction
Matthias Oelze,Hanke Mollnau,Nina Hoffmann,Ascan Warnholtz,Martin Bodenschatz,Albert Smolenski,Ulrich Walter,Mikhail Skatchkov,Thomas Meinertz,Thomas Münzel +9 more
TL;DR: P-VASP is suggested to represent a novel biochemical marker for monitoring the NO-stimulated sGC/cGK-I pathway and endothelial integrity in vascular tissue and it is suggested that this level closely follows changes in endothelial function and vascular oxidative stress.
