Journal ArticleDOI
Neurological Sequelae in Patients with COVID-19: A Histopathological Perspective.
Francesco Fisicaro,Mario Di Napoli,Aldo Liberto,Martina Fanella,Flavio Di Stasio,Manuela Pennisi,Rita Bella,Giuseppe Lanza,Gelsomina Mansueto +8 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors provided a preliminary description of the relationship between SARS-CoV-2 and brain sequelae, despite the limited evidence available and the heterogeneity of the studies.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cannabinoids in the Treatment of Epilepsy: Current Status and Future Prospects
Alessandra Morano,Martina Fanella,Mariarita Albini,Pierangelo Cifelli,Eleonora Palma,Anna Teresa Giallonardo,Carlo Di Bonaventura +6 more
TL;DR: Most patients reported adverse events (AEs), generally from mild to moderate and transient, which mainly consisted of somnolence, sedation, decreased appetite, diarrhea and elevation in aminotransferase levels, the last being documented only in subjects on concomitant valproate therapy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Doing without valproate in women of childbearing potential with idiopathic generalized epilepsy: Implications on seizure outcome.
Emanuele Cerulli Irelli,Alessandra Morano,Enrico Cocchi,Sara Casciato,Martina Fanella,Mariarita Albini,Federica Avorio,Luca M. Basili,Giacomo Fisco,Francesca Barone,Addolarata Mascia,Alfredo D'Aniello,Mario Manfredi,Jinane Fattouch,Pierpaolo Quarato,Anna Teresa Giallonardo,Giancarlo Di Gennaro,Carlo Di Bonaventura +17 more
TL;DR: The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between VPA avoidance/switch and seizure outcome in women of childbearing potential.
Journal ArticleDOI
Ictal epileptic headache as "subtle" symptom in generalized idiopathic epilepsy.
Martina Fanella,Jinane Fattouch,Sara Casciato,Leonardo Lapenta,Alessandra Morano,Gabriella Egeo,Mario Manfredi,Massimiliano Prencipe,Anna Teresa Giallonardo,Carlo Di Bonaventura +9 more
TL;DR: A 37‐year‐old patient, affected by both drug‐resistant generalized idiopathic epilepsy and headache, who displayed the sudden onset of a headache attack referred during a 24‐h electroencephalography (EEG) revealed the activation of subcontinuous epileptic activity consisting of generalized spike‐wave discharges and generalized polyspike and wave discharges that persisted for 60 min, until the disappearance of the headache.
Journal ArticleDOI
Epilepsy, unawareness of seizures and driving license: The potential role of 24-hour ambulatory EEG in defining seizure freedom
Jinane Fattouch,C. Di Bonaventura,Leonardo Lapenta,Sara Casciato,Martina Fanella,Alessandra Morano,M. Manfredi,A. T. Giallonardo +7 more
TL;DR: A large number of patients (both drug resistant and seizure free) with AEEG-documented ictal events (UIEs) not reported in a self-kept diary are revealed, highlighting the usefulness of AEEGs in clinical practice as a means of more accurately ascertaining seizure freedom and supporting decisions involving the renewal or granting of a driving license.
