Obese adults have visual attention bias for food cue images: evidence for altered reward system function
Emily Castellanos,Evonne J. Charboneau,Mary S. Dietrich,Sohee Park,Brendan P. Bradley,Karin Mogg,Ronald L. Cowan +6 more
TL;DR: Investigating whether the motivational salience of food cues differs between obese and normal-weight subjects in a manner consistent with altered reward system function in obesity found food cue incentive salience is elevated equally in normal- Weight and obese individuals during fasting.
Journal ArticleDOI
Quality of life research in head and neck cancer: a review of the current state of the science.
TL;DR: In general, QOL declines immediately after therapy and returns toward baseline by 1 year, and several factors have been identified that may predict for worse QOL outcomes including: the presence of a feeding tube, co-morbid disease, tracheotomy, site and stage.
Journal ArticleDOI
Changes in body mass, energy balance, physical function, and inflammatory state in patients with locally advanced head and neck cancer treated with concurrent chemoradiation after low-dose induction chemotherapy.
TL;DR: This study aimed to determine changes in body mass and body composition in relation to energy balance, inflammatory state, and physical function before and after concurrent chemoradiation (CCR).
Journal ArticleDOI
Early prediction of hypocalcemia after thyroidectomy using parathyroid hormone: an analysis of pooled individual patient data from nine observational studies.
J. Pieter Noordzij,Stephanie L. Lee,Victor Bernet,Richard J. Payne,Seth M. Cohen,Ian K. McLeod,Michael P. Hier,Martin J. Black,Paul Kerr,Melanie L. Richards,Chung-Yau Lo,Marco Raffaelli,Rocco Domenico Alfonso Bellantone,Celestino Pio Lombardi,James I. Cohen,Mary S. Dietrich +15 more
TL;DR: Routine use of this assay should be considered because it may allow earlier discharge of the normocalcemic patient and earlier identification of patients requiring treatment of postthyroidectomy hypocalcemia.
Journal ArticleDOI
Prevalence of Secondary Lymphedema in Patients With Head and Neck Cancer
Jie Deng,Sheila H. Ridner,Mary S. Dietrich,Nancy Wells,Kenneth A. Wallston,Robert J. Sinard,Anthony J. Cmelak,Barbara A. Murphy +7 more
TL;DR: Lymphedema is a common late effect in patients with head and neck cancer, and it develops in multiple external and internal anatomical locations, and clinicians should assess patients for late-effect lymphedEMA during physical examination and endoscopic procedures.
