Abstract: Keggin-type heteropolymolybdates have been found to catalyze the selective oxidation of isobutane with molecular oxygen. The preferable contents of Cs and V are 2.5 and 1, respectively, and the addition of Ni enhanced the catalytic activity for the oxidation of isobutane. The presence of steam did not affected the catalytic performance very much. Cs 2.5 Ni 0.08 H 1.34 PVMo 11 0 40 also catalyzed the oxidation of propane and ethane. It was suggested by IR, XRD, and 31 P NMR data that the Keggin structure was maintained during the oxidation.
