Journal ArticleDOI
Hepatitis C virus particle detected by immunoelectron microscopic study
Masahiko Kaito,Shozo Watanabe,Kyoko Tsukiyama-Kohara,Kenjiro Yamaguchi,Yoshinao Kobayashi,Masayoshi Konishi,Masato Yokoi,Satoshi Ishida,Shiro Suzuki,Michinori Kohara +9 more
TL;DR: To clarify the morphology of hepatitis C virus (HCV), an indirect immunogold electron microscopic study was carried out on two plasma samples with high HCV RNA titres using polyclonal and monoclonal antibodies specific to the putative HCV envelope protein.
Journal ArticleDOI
Quantitation and typing of serum hepatitis C virus RNA in patients with chronic hepatitis C treated with interferon-β
M D Yoshinao Kobayashi,Shozo Watanabe,Masayoshi Konishi,Masato Yokoi,Ryuichi Kakehashi,Masahiko Kaito,Masahiro Kondo,Yuji Hayashi,Takahito Jomori,Shiro Suzuki +9 more
TL;DR: The results show that mixed infections with different hepatitis C virus subtypes appear to be more common than previously reported and that the pretreatment serum level of hepatitis Cirus RNA is a more important predictor of outcome of interferon therapy than is virus genotype.
Journal ArticleDOI
Detection of hepatitis C virus RNA by nested polymerase chain reaction in sera of patients with chronic non-A, non-B hepatitis treated with interferon
Yoshinao Kobayashi,Shozo Watanabe,Masayoshi Konishi,Masato Yokoi,Jiro Ikoma,Ryuichi Kakehashi,Yuji Kojima,Shiro Suzuki +7 more
TL;DR: The results suggest that this HCV-RNA assay, combined with sALT testing, may be useful for estimation of the long-term efficacy of interferon therapy in hepatitis C.
Journal ArticleDOI
Appropriate interferon-alpha therapy for chronic hepatitis C: an assessment by quantitative changes in serum hepatitis C virus-RNA.
Shozo Watanabe,Yoshinao Kobayashi,Masayoshi Konishi,Masato Yokoi,Ryuichi Kakehashi,Masahiko Kaito,Shiro Suzuki +6 more
TL;DR: A favorable antiviral response was closely associated with a high total dose of IFN-alpha and a long duration ofIFN therapy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Visualization of the drainage veins with contrast-enhanced sonography was useful in diagnosis of small focal nodular hyperplasia.
Hiroko Iijima,Shiro Suzuki,Fuminori Moriyasu,Kyosuke Yanagisawa,Masahiko Yamada,Takeo Miyahara,Masato Yokoi,Toshiya Horibe,Naoki Ito,Dai Kakizaki,Kimihiko Abe +10 more
TL;DR: Moriyasu et al. as mentioned in this paper showed that focal nodular hyperplasia (FNH) is a benign localized lesion in the liver first reported by Edmondson1 in 1956.
