Extraction of hydrolysable tannins from Phyllanthus niruri Linn.: Effects of solvents and extraction methods

TL;DR: In this article, the effects of solvent types and extraction methods (solvent extraction (SE), supercritical fluid extraction (SFE), and pressurized water extraction (PWE)) were investigated for effective recovery of bioactive hydrolysable tannins from Phyllanthus niruri Linn.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effects of changes in chemical and structural characteristic of ammonia fibre expansion (AFEX) pretreated oil palm empty fruit bunch fibre on enzymatic saccharification and fermentability for biohydrogen.

TL;DR: There were significant structural changes in OPEFB after the pretreatment step, and the sugar yield after enzymatic hydrolysis using a cocktail of Cellic Ctec2® and Cellic Htec2®, increased from 0.15gg(-1) of O PEFB in the raw untreated OPE FB sample to 0.53gg (-1) in AFEX-pretreated OPEFG, which enhances the economic value of OPEFF.
Journal ArticleDOI

Supercritical CO2 fractionation of crude palm oil

TL;DR: In this paper, the del Valle-Aguilera correlation was found to over estimate the solubility of crude palm oil in supercritical CO2 in a semi batch setup.
Journal ArticleDOI

Co-solvent selection for supercritical fluid extraction of astaxanthin and other carotenoids from Penaeus monodon waste

TL;DR: The efficient and environment-friendly recovery of astaxanthins was accomplished by using a supercritical fluid extraction (SFE) technique and the effects of different co-solvents and their concentrations on the yield and composition of the extract were investigated.
Journal ArticleDOI

Flux decline study during ultrafiltration of glycerin-rich fatty acid solutions

TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of membrane hydrophobicity, molecular weight cut-off and temperature on the membrane fouling were investigated for two different types of polymeric membrane materials with different MWCOs.
