Interfacing basal ganglia models and Parkinson's disease phenomenology: How can we translate the findings of electrophysiological studies from research to clinic

TL;DR: In PD patients with implanted deep brain stimulators, activity from BG nuclei, i.e. the subthalamic nucleus the internal pallidal segment, and from the peduncolopontine nucleus may be directly recorded using depth electrodes, allowing the investigation of dysfunctional BG through interconnections with motor cortical areas, brainstem and spinal structures.
Journal ArticleDOI

Diagnostic Uncertainties in Tremor

TL;DR: In this article , the authors discuss the diagnostic uncertainties that may be encountered in clinical practice in the approach to patients with tremor and discuss the important ancillary role of neurophysiology and innovative technologies, neuroimaging, and genetics in the diagnostic process.
Journal ArticleDOI

Reply to “Intensification of an Essential Tremor by SARS-CoV-2”

TL;DR: Despite the clear temporal relationship between SARS-CoV-2 infection and tremor worsening, the patient had no history of acute or paroxysmal neurological manifestations, and any risky therapy, such as immunosuppressant treatment, was taken in light of a risk-benefit consideration.
