Journal Article
Performance of quantum annealing on random Ising problems implemented using the D-Wave Two
Journal ArticleDOI
Effective charging energy of the single electron box
Philipp Werner,Matthias Troyer +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present numerical results on electron tunneling in a single-electron box at low temperature using an efficient cluster algorithm and a new transition matrix Monte Carlo approach, using an effective charging energy $E_C^*$ in the limit of very small tunneling resistance.
Journal ArticleDOI
Independent quality assessment of a commercial quantum random number generator
Mikhail Petrov,I. V. Radchenko,Damian S. Steiger,Renato Renner,Matthias Troyer,Vadim Makarov +5 more
TL;DR: In this paper , the authors reverse-engineer, test and analyse hardware and firmware of the commercial quantum-optical random number generator Quantis from ID Quantique, and show that 99% of its output data originates in physically random processes: random timing of photon absorption in a semiconductor material, and random growth of avalanche owing to impact ionisation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Topological phases: An expedition off lattice
Michael H. Freedman,Lukas Gamper,Charlotte Gils,Charlotte Gils,Sergei V. Isakov,Simon Trebst,Matthias Troyer +6 more
TL;DR: In this article, the topology of the lattice is one of the dynamical variables, which is important for topological protection and ultimately the stability of a topological phase.
Journal ArticleDOI
