Journal ArticleDOI

Angiogenic Abnormalities in Diabetes Mellitus: Mechanistic and Clinical Aspects.

TL;DR: Dissecting the molecular drivers of tissue-specific alterations of angio-/vasculogenesis is an important challenge to devise new therapeutic approaches to normalize angiogenesis in diabetes.
Journal ArticleDOI

Diabetes Limits Stem Cell Mobilization Following G-CSF but Not Plerixafor.

TL;DR: Testing whether the CXCR4 antagonist plerixafor, differently from G-CSF, is effective in mobilizing hematopoietic stem cell (HSC) mobilization in patients with diabetes found it was equally able to mobilize CD34+ HSCs in the two groups, whereas in historical data, G- CSF was less effective in Patients with diabetes.
Journal ArticleDOI

A perspective on NETosis in diabetes and cardiometabolic disorders.

TL;DR: NETosis appears to be part of an abnormal response to damage in diabetes that can promote or aggravate end-organ complications, making it a novel player in the pathobiology of cardiovascular disease.
Journal ArticleDOI

NAD(+)-dependent SIRT1 deactivation has a key role on ischemia-reperfusion-induced apoptosis.

TL;DR: The interplay among FoxO1, SIRT1, NAD(+), AMPK, HSP, and SIRT6 depicts a complex molecular network that protects the heart from apoptosis during IR and may be susceptible to therapeutic interventions.
Journal ArticleDOI

Procalcific phenotypic drift of circulating progenitor cells in type 2 diabetes with coronary artery disease.

TL;DR: In this paper, the pro-calcific versus endothelial differentiation status of circulating CD34+ progenitor cells was determined by expression of VEGFR-2 (KDR) and Pro-Calcific polarization of circulating progenitors, which may contribute to vascular calcification in these patients.
