Production of high-content galacto-oligosaccharide by enzyme catalysis and fermentation with Kluyveromyces marxianus
TL;DR: Of three β-galactosidases from Aspergillus oryzae, Kluyveromyces lactis and Bacillus sp.
Journal ArticleDOI
Enhanced production of l(+)-lactic acid by floc-form culture of Rhizopus oryzae
TL;DR: In this paper, a process to optimize l -lactic acid production from glucose by Rhizopus oryzae, based on sustaining floc morphology throughout the fermentation process, is performed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Influenza vaccination coverage and factors affecting adherence to influenza vaccination among patients with diabetes in Taiwan
TL;DR: Investigating influenza vaccination coverage and the factors influencing acceptance of influenza vaccination among patients with diabetes in Taiwan using the Health Belief Model revealed that patients with Diabetes who were female, were older, had comorbidities, had a more positive perception of the benefits of the flu vaccine and had lower perceived barriers to influenza vaccination were more likely to receive the influenza vaccine in 2011–2012.
Journal ArticleDOI
Factors affecting the use of anti-malaria preventive measures among Taiwan immigrants returning to malaria-endemic regions
Wen Shin Hung,Susan C. Hu,Yu Chen Hsu,Kwo Liang Chen,Kou Huang Chen,Mei-Ching Yu,Kow-Tong Chen +6 more
TL;DR: Investigation of the predictors of anti-malaria preventive measures (AMPMs) among Taiwan immigrants returning to their country of origin using the Health Belief Model revealed that Chinese proficiency, travel consultation before travel, lower perceived susceptibility to malaria, high perceived severity of malaria infection, higher perceived benefit for taking measures, and higher self-efficacy forTaking measures significantly predicted the use of AMPMs.
Journal ArticleDOI
Broad temperature range of cubic blue phase present in simple binary mixture systems containing rodlike Schiff base mesogens with tolane moiety
Chiung-Cheng Huang,Yu-Hao Chen,Sheng-Yen Chen,Yi-Zeng Sun,Zong-Ye Wu,Mei-Ching Yu,Bo-Hao Chen,I-Jui Hsu,Lai-Chin Wu,Jey-Jau Lee +9 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that the hydroxyl group and the methyl branch in this type of Schiff base mesogen play an important role in the stabilization of BPs.
