Uranyl Incorporation into Calcite and Aragonite: XAFS and Luminescence Studies

TL;DR: In this paper, X-ray absorption, luminescence, and Raman spectroscopic studies of U(VI)-containing calcite and aragonite have been performed to show that the U ion, the dominant and mobile form of dissolved uranium in near-surface waters, has a disordered and apparently less stable coordination environment when incorporated into calcite.
Journal ArticleDOI

Coprecipitation of Uranium(VI) with Calcite: XAFS, micro-XAS, and luminescence characterization

TL;DR: In this article, X-ray absorption and luminescence spectroscopies have been used to characterize the local structure and coordination of uranium(VI) species coprecipitated with calcite (CaCO3) from room-temperature aqueous solutions.
Journal ArticleDOI

Seawater pH control on the boron isotopic composition of calcite: evidence from inorganic calcite precipitation experiments

TL;DR: In this article, the dependence of the boron isotopic composition (δ11B) of calcite on the pH of seawater has been investigated and the results show that B(OH)4− is the dominant species incorporated into the calcite structure.
