Journal ArticleDOI
Energy-dependent transport of digoxin across renal tubular cell monolayers (LLC-PK1).
TL;DR: The results suggest that digoxin undergoes transepithelial secretion by an energy-dependent, carrier-mediated process in renal tubules, a process that seems to be distinct from the tetraethylammonium transport system.
Journal ArticleDOI
Inhibition kinetics of cationic drugs on N′-methylnicotinamide uptake by brush border membrane vesicles from the dog kidney cortex
TL;DR: The approach outlined in the present study should prove useful to predict complex drug interactions in clinical pharmacology and explain the mutual competition for renal tubular secretion observed when cationic drugs are administered concurrently in vivo.
Journal Article
Effects of quinidine on the renal tubular and biliary transport of digoxin: in vivo and in vitro studies in the dog.
Gideon Koren,Julia Klein,Esther Giesbrecht,R Ben Dayan,S Soldin,Edward M. Sellers,Stuart MacLeod,Melvin Silverman +7 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that quinidine inhibits the renal excretion of digoxin not by competition at the tubular cell membrane level, but rather by decreasing renal blood flow.
Journal ArticleDOI
Evidence of digoxin metabolism by the kidney
TL;DR: In vitro studies verify that this new species is produced by the brush border membrane of the renal tubular cell, and is identified by thin layer chromatography by performing single pass experiments in the dog.
