Journal ArticleDOI
Synthesis and carbonic anhydrase isoenzymes I, II, IX, and XII inhibitory effects of dimethoxybromophenol derivatives incorporating cyclopropane moieties.
Murat Boztas,Yasin Çetinkaya,Meryem Topal,İlhami Gülçin,İlhami Gülçin,Abdullah Menzek,Ertan Şahin,Muhammet Tanc,Claudiu T. Supuran +8 more
TL;DR: All tested bromophenol derivatives exhibited excellent inhibitory effects, in the low nanomolar range, with Ki values in the range of 0.97-12.14 nM against hCA II, whereas they were low micromolar inhibitors against h CA IX and XII.
Journal ArticleDOI
N-Acylsulfonamides strongly inhibit human carbonic anhydrase isoenzymes I and II.
Alper Yıldırım,Ufuk Atmaca,Ali Keskin,Meryem Topal,Murat Çelik,İlhami Gülçin,Claudiu T. Supuran +6 more
TL;DR: Sulfonamides represent a significant class of biologically active compounds that inhibit carbonic anhydrase isoenzymes involved in different pathological and physiological events and are used therapeutically as diuretic, antiglaucoma, antiobesity and anticancer agents.
Journal ArticleDOI
Rosmarinic acid: a potent carbonic anhydrase isoenzymes inhibitor
Meryem Topal,İlhami Gülçin +1 more
TL;DR: The inhibition property of rosmarinic acid on carbonic anhydrase isoenzymes I and II (hCA I and I) purified from human erythrocytes by using Sepharose-4B affinity column chromatography is determined.
Journal ArticleDOI
Antioxidant, antiradical, and anticholinergic properties of cynarin purified from the Illyrian thistle (Onopordum illyricum L.).
Meryem Topal,Hülya Göçer,Fevzi Topal,Pınar Kalın,Leyla Polat Kose,İlhami Gülçin,Kader Cetin Cakmak,Murat Küçük,Lokman Durmaz,Ahmet C. Gören,Saleh Alwasel +10 more
TL;DR: This study clearly showed that cynarin had marked antioxidant, anticholinergic, reducing ability, radical-scavenging, and metal-binding activities.
Journal ArticleDOI
Acetylcholinesterase and carbonic anhydrase isoenzymes I and II inhibition profiles of taxifolin
Hülya Göçer,Fevzi Topal,Meryem Topal,Murat Küçük,Dilek Teke,İlhami Gülçin,Saleh Alwasel,Claudiu T. Supuran +7 more
TL;DR: Results clearly show that taxifolin inhibited both CA isoenzymes and AChE at the nM levels.
