Journal ArticleDOI
Nephrogenic systemic fibrosis : Suspected causative role of gadodiamide used for contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging
Peter Marckmann,Lone Skov,Kristian Rossen,Anders Dupont,Mette Brimnes Damholt,James G. Heaf,Henrik S. Thomsen +6 more
TL;DR: It is shown that gadodiamide plays a causative role in nephrogenic systemic fibrosis, and seven patients became severely disabled, and one died 21 mo after exposure.
Journal ArticleDOI
Determinants of the impaired secretion of glucagon-like peptide-1 in type 2 diabetic patients.
Mai-Britt Toft-Nielsen,Mette Brimnes Damholt,Sten Madsbad,Linda Hilsted,Thomas Edward Hughes,Birgitte K. Michelsen,Jens J. Holst +6 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that the meal-related glucagon-like peptide-1 response in type 1 diabetes is decreased, which may contribute to the decreased incretin effect in type 2 diabetes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Increased Intracranial Pressure during Hemodialysis in a Patient with Anoxic Brain Injury
Anton Lund,Mette Brimnes Damholt,Ditte Strange,Jesper Kelsen,Hasse Møller-Sørensen,Kirsten Møller +5 more
TL;DR: In patients at risk of DDS, hemodialysis should be performed with utmost care and continuous monitoring of ICP should be considered, and frequent pauses or early cessation of dialysis ought to be considered.
Journal ArticleDOI
Intracranial pressure during hemodialysis in patients with acute brain injury.
TL;DR: Patients with acute brain injury are theoretically at risk of surges in intracranial pressure (ICP) during hemodialysis because of osmotic fluid shifts over the blood‐brain barrier, but this remains poorly investigated.
Journal Article
Plasmapheresis in the treatment of acute pancreatitis associated with severe hypertriglyceridaemia
TL;DR: The national Danish guidelines on treatment of acute pancreatitis do not mention plasmapheresis as a method of lowering elevated triglyceride levels, so it is suggested that the guidelines should be revised with attention to this treatment option.
