Journal ArticleDOI
The reactivity of oxides with water vapor
TL;DR: In this paper, the Tian-Calvet microcalorimeter was used to determine the heat of interaction of water vapor with a range of oxides at 303 K. The change from hydrophilic to hydrophobic behavior in oxides is correlated with the gradation from ionic to covalent bonding.
Journal Article
The reactivity of oxides with water vapor Solid State Ionics
Journal ArticleDOI
UV reflectance and FTIR spectroscopic studies of CO adsorption and reaction on lanthanum oxide
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors show that CO adsorption on the outgassed oxide occurs with rapid formation of carbonite CO22− ions, accompanied by a slow reaction forming reduced oligomeric (CO)n2− anions and carbonate CO32− ions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Heterogeneity of V2O5/Al2O3 as studied by water vapour adsorption microcalorimetry
Michael Bailes,Frank S. Stone +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the adsorption of water vapour on 773 K-outgassed γ-Al2O3, V2O5 and alumina-supported V 2O5 has been studied at 303 K. Measurements have been made incrementally in the region of sub-monolayer H2O coverage in order to map the hydrophilicity of the surface.
Journal ArticleDOI
The reaction of oxygen with CO complexes on calcium oxide and magnesium oxide
Michael Bailes,Frank S. Stone +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the heat evolved during the adsorption and oligomerization of CO on outgassed CaO and MgO has been determined with a heat-flow calorimeter.
