Journal ArticleDOI
Bromomaltol: structure and conversion to novel pyridone and pyridine derivatives
Journal ArticleDOI
Convenient preparative methods for N-aryl-γ-pyridones from γ-pyrones
TL;DR: In this article, 2-hydroxymethyl-5-methoxy-4-H-pyran-4 one (1) reacts with aniline and six anilines derivatives in very dilute aqueous hydrochloric acid at reflux temperature to give the N-aryl-γ-Pyridone.

Journal ArticleDOI
Synthesis of aldehyde and carboxylic acid derivatives from 2‐hydroxymethyl‐3‐hydroxy‐4H‐pyran‐4‐one (α‐hydroxymaltol)
TL;DR: In this article, the authors showed that α-hydroxymaltol can be converted to 3-O-methyl ethers by standard methods, in 91 and 77% yields respectively.
