Journal ArticleDOI

Molecular biology of mycotoxin biosynthesis

TL;DR: The toxicity of four of the most agriculturally important mycotoxins (the trichothecenes, and the polyketide-derived mycotoxin; aflatoxins, fumonisins and sterigmatocystin) are discussed and their chemical structure described.
Journal ArticleDOI

The use of reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) for monitoring aflatoxin production in Aspergillus parasiticus 439.

TL;DR: A detection system based on reverse transcription PCR (RT-PCR) has been developed to monitor aflatoxin gene expression in Aspergillus parasiticus and has the potential to be employed as a tool to investigate the effects of a variety of physiological factors on the transcription of the a flatoxin genes.
Journal Article

Mycotoxins in agriculture and food safety.

TL;DR: The production of two groups of mycotoxins, namely, the aflatoxins and ochratoxin A will be discussed together with the development of molecular based detection techniques to monitor mycotoxin production.
