Journal ArticleDOI
Growth and ferromagnetic resonance properties of nanometer-thick yttrium iron garnet films
Yiyan Sun,Young-Yeal Song,Houchen Chang,Michael Kabatek,Michael Jantz,William Schneider,Mingzhong Wu,Helmut Schultheiss,Axel Hoffmann +8 more
TL;DR: Growth of nm-thick yttrium iron garnet films and ferromagnetic resonance (FMR) linewidth properties in the films were reported in this article, where films were grown on gadolinium gallium garnet substrates by pulsed laser deposition (PLD).
Journal ArticleDOI
Damping in yttrium iron garnet nanoscale films capped by platinum.
Yiyan Sun,Houchen Chang,Michael Kabatek,Young-Yeal Song,Zihui Wang,Michael Jantz,William Schneider,Mingzhong Wu,Eric Montoya,B. Kardasz,Bret Heinrich,Suzanne G. E. te Velthuis,Helmut Schultheiss,Axel Hoffmann +13 more
TL;DR: Strong damping enhancement in nm-thick yttrium iron garnet (YIG) films due to Pt capping layers was observed, and data indicate that such damping may originate from the ferromagnetic ordering in Pt atomic layers near the YIG/Pt interface and the dynamic exchange coupling.
Journal ArticleDOI
Control of ferromagnetic relaxation in magnetic thin films through thermally induced interfacial spin transfer.
TL;DR: Relaxation control in magnetic thin films via thermally induced interfacial spin transfers was demonstrated for the first time, and a torque can either speed up or slow down the relaxation in the YIG film, depending on the sign of the temperature gradient.
