Journal ArticleDOI

Geochemical classification of terrigenous sands and shales from core or log data

TL;DR: In this article, a means of relating geochemical concentrations to existing sandstone classification schemes is proposed based on three chemical parameters: the SiO2/Al2O3 ratio, the Fe 2O3/K2O ratio, and the Ca content.
Journal ArticleDOI

Firn Densification: An Empirical Model

TL;DR: An empirical model of firn densification from the surface to the zone of pore close-off has been constructed in this paper, where fundamental rate equations have been derived for the first two stages of densification.
Journal ArticleDOI

Impurity sources Of F−, Cl−, NO3 − and SO4 2− in Greenland and Antarctic precipitation

TL;DR: In this paper, five polar impurity sources are proposed: anthropogenic NO3− and SO42− in recent Greenland but not Antarctic snow; marine aerosols, the dominant Cl− source; volcanic eruptions, which produce detectable but variable peaks in SO42 −, F−, and/or Cl− concentrations; biogenic sulfurous gases from soil and coastal waters, dominant source for SO 42− in nonvolcanic strata; an unidentified source of background nitrate which is more active in the northern hemisphere and which displays a summer concentration maximum Solar activity and supernova events
Journal ArticleDOI

Geochemical logging with spectrometry tools

TL;DR: In this article, a methode, ameliorant la connaissance mineralogique du fond de trou, devrait permettre de faciliter l'interpretation d'autres diagraphies affectees par la mineralogie.
