Journal ArticleDOI

Multiple mechanisms for the activation of human platelet aggregation by Staphylococcus aureus: roles for the clumping factors ClfA and ClfB, the serine-aspartate repeat protein SdrE and protein A.

TL;DR: S. aureus has multiple mechanisms for stimulating platelet aggregation, and functional redundancy suggests that this phenomenon may be important in the pathogenesis of invasive diseases such as infective endocarditis.
Journal ArticleDOI

Interventions for reversing delayed-onset postoperative paraplegia after thoracic aortic reconstruction

TL;DR: Acute interventions directed to increase spinal cord perfusion by increasing systemic blood pressure and decreasing CSF pressure were effective for the reversal of delayed onset of paraplegia after TAA or TAAA repair, resulting in an overall 3% incidence of permanent paraplegy and 3% occurrence of residual paraparesis.
Journal ArticleDOI

Successful treatment of delayed onset paraplegia after suprarenal abdominal aortic aneurysm repair.

TL;DR: In the case described in this article, the delayed onset of paraplegia in the postoperative period after repair of a suprarenal AAA temporally followed an episode of hypotension, suggesting that the neurologic deficit was caused by hypoperfusion.
