Full-potential self-consistent linearized-augmented-plane-wave method for calculating the electronic structure of molecules and surfaces: O 2 molecule

TL;DR: In this article, the authors generalized the linearized-augmented-plane-wave (LAPW) method for thin films by removing the remaining shape approximation to the potential inside the atomic spheres, and implemented a new technique for solving Poisson's equation for a general charge density and potential is described and implemented in the film LAPW method.
Journal ArticleDOI

Surface magnetism of Fe(001)

TL;DR: In this article, all-electron self-consistent semirelativistic full-potential linearized augmented-plane-wave local-density and local-spin-density studies are reported for a seven-layer Fe(001) thin film.
Journal ArticleDOI

Fractional occupations and density-functional energies and forces.

TL;DR: The explicit inclusion of fractional occupation numbers in density-functional calculations is shown to require an additional term to make the energy functional variational.
