Journal ArticleDOI

Involvement of ammonium metabolism in the nitrate inhibition of nitrogen fixation in Anabaena sp. strain ATCC 33047

TL;DR: Inhibition of ammonium assimilation by l-methionine-d,l-sulfoximine (MSX) alleviates the repressive effect of nitrate on nitrogenase synthesis, thus indicating that the nitrate effect is indirect through metabolites generated from the ammonium derived from nitrate reduction.
Journal ArticleDOI

Shift in carbon flow and stimulation of amino-acid turnover induced by nitrate and ammonium assimilation in Anacystis nidulans.

TL;DR: The data indicate that nitrate and ammonium assimilation induce an enhancement of carbon flow through the glycolytic and the tricarboxylic-acid pathways to oxaloacetate and α-ketoglutarate, as well as a stimulation of amino-acid turnover.
Journal ArticleDOI

Nitrogen-Fixing Cyanobacterium with a High Phycoerythrin Content

TL;DR: The elemental and molecular composition, pigment content, and productivity of a phycoerythrin-rich nitrogen-fixing cyanobacterium-an Anabaena strain isolated from the coastal lagoon Albufera de Valencia, Spain-has been investigated.
Journal ArticleDOI

Multiple sclerosis association study with the TENR-IL2-IL21 region in a Spanish population.

TL;DR: The results did not show major influence of TENR-IL2-IL21 locus on susceptibility or disease progression in MS, but could not exclude completely the effect in MS for this region.
Journal ArticleDOI

The stereospecificity of nitrate reductase for hydrogen removal from reduced pyridine nucleotides.

TL;DR: The stereospecificity of the hydrogen removal from reduced pyridine nucleotides catalyzed by nitrate reductase was investigated and was determined to be predominantly of the A-type in all cases.
