Journal ArticleDOI
Plasma total versus bone alkaline phosphatase as markers of bone turnover in hemodialysis patients.
TL;DR: Plasma bAP level equal or higher than 20 ng/mL, either alone or combined with plasma iPTH of 200 pg/ mL, had the highest sensitivity, specificity, and predictability values for the diagnosis of high-turnover bone disease, and formally excluded patients with normal or LTBD.
Journal ArticleDOI
The renal PTH/PTHrP receptor is down-regulated in rats with chronic renal failure
Pablo Ureña,Pablo Ureña,Marcos Kubrusly,Marcos Kubrusly,Michael Mannstadt,Michael Mannstadt,Milan Hruby,Milan Hruby,Marie-Marcelle Trinh Trang Tan,Marie-Marcelle Trinh Trang Tan,Caroline Silve,Caroline Silve,Bernard Lacour,Bernard Lacour,Abdul-Badi Abou-Samra,Abdul-Badi Abou-Samra,Gino V. Segre,Gino V. Segre,Tilman B. Drüeke,Tilman B. Drüeke +19 more
TL;DR: The effect of advanced CRF in rats on the renal expression of PTH/PTHrP receptor (PTH-R) is examined and clinical and experimental evidence points to both PTH receptor down-regulation and post-receptor abnormalities in their pathogenesis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Parathyroidectomy does not prevent the renal PTH/PTHrP receptor down-regulation in uremic rats
Pablo Ureña,Pablo Ureña,Michael Mannstadt,Michael Mannstadt,Milan Hruby,Milan Hruby,Aníbal Ferreira,Aníbal Ferreira,François Schmitt,François Schmitt,Caroline Silve,Caroline Silve,Raymond Ardaillou,Raymond Ardaillou,Bernard Lacour,Bernard Lacour,Abdul B. Abou-Samra,Abdul B. Abou-Samra,Gino V. Segre,Gino V. Segre,Tilman B. Drüeke,Tilman B. Drüeke +21 more
TL;DR: The effect of thyroparathyroidectomy (TPTX) on the renal expression of PTH-R in rats with normal renal function or with chronic renal failure (CRF) induced by 5/6 nephrectomy is examined.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effects of new vitamin D analogues on parathyroid function in chronically uraemic rats with secondary hyperparathyroidism
TL;DR: All three calcitriol analogues tested are promising as non-hypercalcaemic agents in the treatment of uraemic secondary hyperparathyroidism, however, more prolonged administration of calcitril analogues with slightly modified dosage schedules is required for an optimal comparison before considering clinical trials.
Journal ArticleDOI
Down-regulation of the PTH/PTHrP receptor in uremia
TL;DR: Findings indicate a down-regulation of the renal PTH-R expression in CRF which appears to be independent of parathyroid gland function.
