Journal ArticleDOI

Variation in phenolic compounds and antioxidant activity in apple seeds of seven cultivars.

TL;DR: Phenolic extracts from apple seeds have good commercial potential as a promising antioxidant for use in food or cosmetics, and principal component analysis indicated that Honeycrisp was characterized with high contents of total polyphenols and phloridzin.
Journal ArticleDOI

Label-free mapping of single bacterial cells using surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy

TL;DR: The results show the developed method is able to detect single bacterial cells adsorbed on the silver dendrites with a limit of detection as low as 10(4) CFU mL(-1), which is two orders of magnitude lower than the traditional SERS method under the same experimental condition.
Journal ArticleDOI

Antibiotic resistance of lactic acid bacteria isolated from Chinese yogurts.

TL;DR: Evaluating the susceptibility of 43 strains of lactic acid bacteria isolated from Chinese yogurts made in different geographical areas to 11 antibiotics found widespread resistance to ampicillin, chloramphenicol, chlortetracy Cline, tetracyclines, lincomycin, streptomycin, neomycin; and gentamycin was found among the 35 strains tested.
Journal ArticleDOI

Antibacterial activity of selenium-enriched lactic acid bacteria against common food-borne pathogens in vitro.

TL;DR: Evaluated inhibitory activities of Se-enriched lactic acid bacteria, Lactobacillus delbrueckii ssp.
Journal ArticleDOI

Rapid concentration detection and differentiation of bacteria in skimmed milk using surface enhanced Raman scattering mapping on 4-mercaptophenylboronic acid functionalized silver dendrites

TL;DR: The results demonstrate the feasibility of using SERS mapping method coupled with 4-MPBA functionalized Ag dendrites for rapid and sensitive bacteria detection in complex liquid samples.
