Journal ArticleDOI

Electrostriction of highly swollen polymer gel: Possible application for gel actuator

TL;DR: In this paper, a polyvinyl alcohol-fluid gel was demonstrated to actuate at a much faster rate than those reported on conventional gel actuators in air and to flap a wing of 12.5 cm at a rate of 2 Hz with a span of 10 cm by periodically applying electric field.
Journal ArticleDOI

Characteristics of AOT Microemulsion Structure Depending on Apolar Solvents

TL;DR: In this paper, the structural properties of reversed micellar systems depending on hydrocarbon chains of apolar solvents were studied by using synchrotron radiation small-angle X-ray scattering (SR-SAXS).
Journal ArticleDOI

Reversibility and Hierarchy of Thermal Transition of Hen Egg-White Lysozyme Studied by Small-Angle X-Ray Scattering

TL;DR: It is found that the presence of repulsive interparticle interaction between proteins can maintain solute particles separately to prevent further aggregation in thermal denaturation processes and that under such conditions the thermal structural transition of hen egg-white lysozyme holds high reversibility.
Journal ArticleDOI

Determination of Asymmetric Structure of Ganglioside-DPPC Mixed Vesicle Using SANS, SAXS, and DLS

TL;DR: The present results suggest that the preferential asymmetric distribution of gangliosides is essential to define the size and stability of the domains.
