Journal ArticleDOI
"White coat" versus "sustained" borderline hypertension in Tecumseh, Michigan.
Stevo Julius,Agnes D. Mejia,Kerin A. Jones,Lisa Krause,Nicholas J. Schork,C. J. M. Van De Ven,Ernest H. Johnson,Jurij Petrin,Mohamed A. Sekkarie,Sverre E. Kjeldsen +9 more
TL;DR: Findings do not support the accepted practice of using home blood pressure determination to distinguish groups of borderline hypertensive subjects with a lesser or greater clinical problem.
Journal ArticleDOI
Antihypertensive and hypotensive effects of atrial natriuretic factor in men.
TL;DR: Renal excretion of water, sodium, chloride, calcium, and phosphorus increased in a dose-dependent fashion in response to infused ANF, and the apparent direct suppressive effect of a 0.03 microgram/kg/min infusion of ANF on renin and aldosterone levels was overcome at higher doses by counterregulation provoked by the depressor action.
Journal ArticleDOI
Recovery from end-stage renal disease.
Mohamed A. Sekkarie,Friedrich K. Port,Robert A. Wolfe,Kenneth E. Guire,Raymond Humphrys,George Van Amburg,C. William Ferguson +6 more
TL;DR: The authors conclude that caution should be applied when the diagnosis of ESRD is made; the possibility of recovery should be sought and assessed, especially when early renal transplantation is considered.
Journal ArticleDOI
Behaviour and hypertension: a pathophysiological puzzle.
TL;DR: It is concluded that studies of stress reactivity, while of interest to students of circulatory control, are unlikely to yield insights into the causes of human hypertension.
