Journal ArticleDOI

Differences between native and introduced olive cultivars as revealed by morphology of drupes, oil composition and SSR polymorphisms: A case study in Tunisia

TL;DR: Kinship relationships between cultivar and oleaster trees based on molecular polymorphisms suggested that olive cultivars may have origin in local oleasters, and several domestication events for the olive were suggested.
Journal ArticleDOI

Assessment of tolerance to NaCl salinity of five olive cultivars, based on growth characteristics and Na+ and Cl− exclusion mechanisms

TL;DR: In this article, changes caused by NaCl-induced salinity on several growth parameters and ions accumulation have been measured in five olive ( Olea europaea L.) cultivars (Chemlali, ‘Chetoui’, Koroneiki, Arbequina I18, and Arbosana I43) growing in a greenhouse in nutrient solution pot experiment.
Journal ArticleDOI

Heat accumulation period in the Mediterranean region: phenological response of the olive in different climate areas (Spain, Italy and Tunisia).

TL;DR: The results allow us to conclude that the northern olive populations have the greatest heat requirements for the development of their floral buds, and they need a period of time longer than olives in others areas to completely satisfy their biothermic requirements.
Journal ArticleDOI

Better prediction of Mediterranean olive production using pollen-based models

TL;DR: In this article, the authors studied the parameters that influence olive fruit production for developing accurate forecasting models and found that higher pollen indexes and water availability during spring are related to an increase of final fruit production in all the studied area.
Journal ArticleDOI

Influence du site géographique sur les potentialités agronomiques et technologiques de l'olivier (Olea europaea L.) en Tunisie

TL;DR: In this article, the pomological characters of the fruit are influenced by the geographical location of the olive trees, and a significant fluctuation of the flush percentage in three Chaibi individuals according to their geographical site; it varies from 4906 to 8219% The three Gerboui individuals showed a significant variability in the fruit weight (from 113 to 317 g).
